OLD SCIENCE FICTION PULPS

Old pulp magazines, particularily from 30's & 40's also known as "That-Buck-Rogers-Stuff" (or "The Gernsback Continuum" as Gibson called it) have always had a particular fascination for me. Whilst the "Atom-Age" material from the 50's & 60's is more of what i grew up with, this earlier, more utopian view of the future will always have a soft spot in my heart.

Especially lyrical were the back covers that AMAZING used to run in this period.Take this almost insane idea below. Huge rolling cross country pleasure ball? I want one NOW!

From the ridiculous to the sublime. This one, executed by the seminal SF artist Frank R. Paul at the peak of his powers, is a little bit more of what i'm talking about. Cat-Women of Ganymede, indeed!
