A QUICK OVERVIEW OF CHARLTON WESTERNS!

Well now, since i've been watching an almost steady diet of spaghetti westerns for almost a month now... (my under-rated picks to look out for, if you care - "It Can Be Done, Amigo", "Any Gun Can Play" & "Between God, The Devil & A Winchester"), anyway, it seems almost inevitable that some western books would end up on the scanner.

All of these books have some redeeming or unusual factor that sets them apart from the usual run-of the-mill western fare. Although DC produced THE consistently best (and most realistic) western of the Bronze Age (Jonah Hex by Albano & Ayers, OF COURSE!), these Charlton books have a rough, uneven charm to them that makes them still of interest today..... Artists in these issues include PAM, Pat Boyette, Rocke Maestroserio, Jack Abel, Fred Himes, Ernie Hart, Dick Giordano and many more.

Also remember, Charlton was the LAST major American comic publisher to give a hoot about Westerns, continuing right until the early '80's, they were doing reprints....
